PHOTOGRAPHER IN FOCUS

DARIA SCHERBAKOVA

Daria's works mirror her open approach to photography. Her pieces act as snapshots into intimate, memorable moments that so often cease to be captured on camera.

"I've started taking pictures on film a little over a year ago. At that time it was just a pleasant pastime with a nice result that could be put on the wallpaper of my phone. But the more I shared my "just pictures", the more admiration and recognition I received from friends and strangers. Earlier this year, I seriously thought about starting to develop as a photographer, acquired my first digital camera, and have began to put all my creative energy into it."

I am very fond of visual aesthetics, so I am learning how to work properly with colours and light, postures, space geometry and proportions in the frame. Beautiful pictures inspire me transport me into the moment, allow me to feel and enjoy it. I don't know why I have such a reverent attitude towards visual aesthetics, but this is something that I always look for and try to achieve in my work.

The hardest thing for me as a photographer is to learn to reflect my own vision and bring personality to the work. It's a big job that requires an understanding of myself in the first place and a lot and lots of practice. But the most important thing is to believe in yourself and devote it all of your pieces."
