MUSIC EVENTS

ARCCA Move Together is our series of multidisciplinary club nights including panel discussions, live performances, visual art

and DJ sets.

Bringing connection, communication and commitment onto the dance floor is an empowering and impactful thing. ARCCA Move Together is a club night series that programmes artist panels, live performances, visual art pieces, and thoughtfully curated DJ sets, with the aim of carving an interdisciplinary space for collective expression. Holding space, encouraging people to come as they are, absorbing ideas and moving through the feelings, is how we process, reset & move forward.

Collaboration between Camps Breakerz, ARCCA, Rain Crew & Counterpoints

Our largest Move Together to date was in collaboration with Camps Breakerz, a breakdance school in Gaza. It was an awareness-raiser, fundraiser and celebration of the incredible work done by the Camps Breakerz community, highlighting how they use dance therapeutically to provide a healing and hopeful space for the children in Gaza. We were joined by Camps Breakerz co-founder Ahmed Alghariz, who facilitated a trauma informed movement workshop, spoke on our panel and judged the breaking competition. It was a blessing getting to know Ahmed and learning about how he has nurtured Camps Breakerz across the past 20+ years. They are a community built on commitment, care, collective dedication and love.

Our panel discussion considered how dance and music are used as therapeutic practices, acts of resistance and as tools for solidarity. Ahmed was in conversation with Shadia Mansour and Tarek Khwiss. There was homemade Palestinian and Iraqi recipes served by Faye Matloub; dance performances by Tarek Khwiss’ dance trio; a somatic session led by Divya Satwani; live music by Kairo Girls’ School and Yung Yusuf; DJ sets from Anja Ngozi, Snuff, Kofi, Chilly & Sarra Wild across the day into evening. There was a Get Down for Gaza 2v2 breaking competition, led by Rain Crew, judged by Shark (Ahmed), Bgirl Candy & B-Boy Kat-what?

In a world where keeping people separate maintains power and control, we must see it as our duty to keep bringing people together. It is through sharing nurturing & trusting spaces that we have more capacity to collectively create the change we need.

ARCCA Move Together. A multidisciplinary club night full of conversation & connection. We were joined by some very special guests from the ARCCA family old & new, including the sounds of our favourite music collectives visiting from Barcelona & Marseille.

It was a special night full of expansive sounds and important discussions in our favourite club corner of SE.
